Now you ALL WILL be getting the PC version of this game (this is not a request) But here is the crazy Prestige Edition console version.

YouTube - Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition Unboxing (Official)

Comes with Fricken NV Goggles, wierd. Don't think they are great quality (probably old Gen 1s) but still interesting, head is a little wierd though.

I've seen NVGs being sold at walmart as a kids toy. They are pretty simple actually. I'm not sure how military goggles work but the ones you can buy like this is basically functions like your average camcorders night mode. You can see the array of inferred LEDs surrounding a camera. The camera can pick up the invisible light and then displays it onto two LCD screens on the inside of the goggles.

Still I so want a pair.

Once again all us PC users get the short end of the shit stick as they are not offering a PC version of the prestige edition... So no NVGs for us.

that totally sucks. as in the words of r farthers, @#$% them! what a rip off. they never think of us the pc gamers at all. i wish that they would think of the little guys for a change. we too r a good part of the market where they could be making money. if they noticed we were here they would know that the pc gaming market is almost equal to the consels. at least thats what i think.

I am sure they are only as good as the NV toy goggles at Target so you are not missing anything.

I agree they look like old gen crap made in China ones anyway. Not that I can think of a reason to have a pair other than to stare at my wife's chest while she's sleeping.. though I'm sure that would creep her out and they would be broken in short order lol.

Most of these special editions just come with a bunch of junk anyway. The only import special editions are the ones that come with in game bonuses. If it had a couple extra guns that were only available to that ed. I would buy it and toss the extra crap.
Though most likely it would be only for the Xbox anyway...

I have a lot of military gear

See my Avatar

Those goggles would just go perfectly with my collection (some of it more authentic then others), and if they work well then that's great too.

I've seen them at walmart, weren't they multi colored and kinda... well childish. You actually can get hardened edition for the PC. If you pre-order the game from walmart you can get it and a $10 gift card for like $50 (non hardened)

The kid that manages all the PR stuff for Infinityward (fourzerotwo a.k.a. Robert Bowling) is all about his Xbox. He doesn't care much about the other platforms.

Seems like not only will PC not get prestige editions but they won't even be given the option to own Hardened edition!

Hmm saw that one coming.. Well as long at the game in the editions are all the same then I'm ok with that. I'll probably just get it off of Steam anyway.

Normally I would agree with you and just get the game off steam but the problems I had with the steam version of W@W, and them updating their patches a week later then everybody else makes me weary to buy it off them. If the mp runs through steam like W@W. Xfire doesn't work with steam W@W, nor does desktop shortcuts.

I hope the Steam problem with W@W was game specific because of the manufacturer. CoD4 seems to work fine with Steam even though I think it had a couple issues at first and it took a few more weeks until release?

The issue with Steam and W@W was that the mp.exe was also handled through steam. There was no way to launch MP directly other than going through steam, right clicking and telling it to launch multiplayer. COD4 has it's own exe files that could be launched directly or through steam. I don't think the problem with W@W has anything to do with treyarch and more with steam cracking down on games distributed through them and not being launched with steam.

D:\Valve\steam.exe -applaunch 7940
vs

D:\Valve\SteamApps\common\call of duty 4\iw3sp.exe

Even accessing CoDWaW and CoDWaWmp directly would launch the game through steam, it's hard coded in. Although there is a bypass but it's a little more trouble then it's worth if there is an alternative such as just buying the CD of the game.

Walmart has the game up for pre-order for $50 with a $10 e-gift card. The only downside I see is the shipping date is listed as 8 days after release, for me anyway.

I might buy a shelf copy as well, CoD4 was Steam version because we though we could use Steam to join the games, which was a no go, and I like physical copies when I can get them.
