Looks like the 360 is NOT made for the long haul, sorry. Microsoft CEO says that a NEW Xbox will be out in 2010 with a built in camera and extra goodies. They are saying that it is to have better intergration with Natal, but if you have one already, you can just buy peripherals (which I guess wont work as well as if it was intergrated???)

According to TG Daily's recount of Ballmer's talk, in which he discussed "the role of innovation in changing economic times," the executive made mention of the new Xbox 360 configuration, one that Microsoft hasn't exactly denied.

I can see this as a "hmm we rushed the internal design and the lifespan of our system is fucked so since it can't physically stand up with the PS3 we'll just start from scratch since we have a crap load of money anyway."

they might just release new Xbox360s with a built in camera, everybody else will have to buy a separate plug-in camera... Actually thinking about it more having a built in camera is a BAD idea. The camera to do anything would have to be front and center of the TV, so unless you want to keep your xbox on your TV that will not work.

Actually, that is the Project Natal piece. It will work with the current Xbox 360 units, past and present, but I never heard it was a stand alone one, which I don't believe it is one bit.

So like I said, this isn't a 360, as to my knowledge and what they said at E3. Project Natal is the next upcoming big thing by Microsoft to incorporate total body and facial movement.

And next time, maybe the guys at Kotaku should go to xbox.com
