This is a good read for all L4D players about how to play the end of each level. And it gives some good tips on basic gameplay as well. It isn't long so all should read it. Nice tips like pointing out that it goes Horde, Tank, Horde, Tank, Escape w/ Horde and possibly Tank
"No Mercy (Rooftops)
Make your way out of the safe room. Watch out for any Smokers or Hunters that may try to get you. There may be a wave of infected that run out of the room with the double doors, so keep your crosshair at head level and spray. Make your way into the elevator shaft and watch out for any pesky Boomers that will be waiting at the turn.
Once at the top of the ladders, get off the roof and go over to the radio area. Take any cans that you find and put them out in the open area outside the radio room. All four people should get into the back closet in the radio room.
Have one person crouch down right at the door. That person's job is to push the infected back by holding in the shove button. Take shots if needed. Right behind that person should be someone with an assault rifle. This person will be the main killer throughout the finale. Keep your crosshair at head level and watch those infected fall. If the front person gets grabbed by a hunter or smoker, quickly shove to free him. The other two people should sit at the back of the closet and get a different angle on the infected, taking shots without hitting the two in front.
As soon as the first wave stops, get ready to fight the Tank. Everyone should run to the top of the roof and spread out onto the walkways.
If you have any Molotovs, now is the chance to use one. Light that Tank on fire! Have one person with plenty of health get the Tank's attention and run around the center of the map. You have to be good at walking backwards and make sure you have plenty of room. The Tank will continue to chase this person while trying to cut him off using the shortest distance. As he does this, quickly juke to the other direction to throw him off. The people on the rooftops should be picking him off from above. Watch out for thrown rocks!
As soon as the Tank drops, everyone should run back in and refill on ammo and health. Get back in the closet and hold off another wave of infected. Use your 2nd Molotov on the next Tank. The Molotov slows him down and really helps to kill him quicker. Once the 2nd Tank drops, it is time to make a run for the helipad. If you have a pipe bomb, this will be a lot easier. Once on the pad and as the horde approaches, throw the pipe bomb across the map and quickly board the helicopter. Congrats, you win... And hopefully all four of you survived.
Tips:
- There are usually a set of Molotovs/pipe bombs on one of the rooftops on either side of the radio room. Use them wisely.
- Molotovs slow Tanks. Save them!
- Only use your pipe bombs if you are planning on running out to get ammo but always make sure you have 1-2 for your final push towards the helicopter.
- If the one who is shoving is low on health, quickly move to the back of the closet and heal while someone else gets down to replace him.
- If the Tank happens to take someone down, run up to him and shove him. It usually takes 2-3 shoves to get his attention. Quickly shove and run away since he will be coming after you. Have someone close by revive the fallen survivor as the Tank is kept busy.
- Make sure your health is in the yellow or higher. You need all the speed you can get when the Tanks come and the finale is about to end.
- The infected will not start coming until after you activate the radio on each map, so make sure you clear out any stray infected and get your area set up.
Death Toll (Docks)
Start off by clearing out the garage. Open the door outside and take a step out and quickly move back in, closing the door behind you. Chances are a wave will rush you and knock down the door. Everyone should focus their fire at that door and clear out any bosses that try to get in.
Once clear, go to the house and refill on ammo and get the health pack/pills in the bathroom. There will be a few boss monsters waiting outside of the house so clear them out and make your way to the small shack across the field. If you run into a Tank, spread out and take him out. If anyone has a Molotov, then use it now. Everyone should get inside the shack and wait for a wave of infected to come out of the trees. Have one person shove as the others focus on their heads.
Grab the pills and med kit and make you way up the hill. There will be bosses waiting for you, so make sure no one gets dragged off or puked on. To the left is a cabin with a med pack, pills, and possibly a Molotov or two. The right has a pavilion with pills. Stick together and kill all the infected that are scattered about before arriving at the radio area. There is a dock that is right beside the house that you should focus your attention on.
Make sure at least one person has a rifle so you can snipe the bosses. Collect any gas cans that you can and put one of them at the front of the dock. You can replace with another once the fire goes out. I do not recommend using shotguns for this finale because you need distance accuracy. Three people should grab Molotovs and one should save a pipe bomb just in case things go bad. Have one person run up and hit the radio and get ready for some action. Right as the first wave approaches, hit the gas Tank. Most of the infected run through the front to get to you, but they will come at each side as well. Make sure you have one person per side who can shove the infected off the dock, one on the higher steps to snipe, and one who will watch out for everyone else in case the hunter or smoker decides to become a bother. Once you run out of gas cans, use one Molotov at a time on the same spot. When the wave ends, get ready for the Tank. You all will need to spread out while one person focuses on getting to the chaingun.

Everyone should get up on the top of the small stairs and wait for the boat to arrive. Throw your pipe bombs one at a time and make sure at least one person has a Molotov for the front just to make things a little bit easier. Hop on the boat to win. Congrats!

- Keep your health in or above yellow. I can't stress this enough. If you don't have any more med kits, get one from a friend. There is an extra kit and pills up at the cabin on the right and some pills in the pavilion bathroom to the left if looking from the house, so you can get that on the way to the finale if you need it.
- Use up the Molotovs and pipe bombs on the 2nd floor of the house first. This will help since you can quickly grab your next batch of grenades at the back of the house as you are on your way to the docks for the 2nd wave. You must do this quickly! Practice doing the sprint a few times before activating the radio if needed.
Dead Air (Airport)
Make your way to the truck and take out all the infected that you come across. Don't let the crashing plane distract you. You don't want to get hit by anything until you reach the radio. Once there, make sure you have full ammo and at least 2 people have hunting rifles. Once again, shotguns are worthless since you need good accuracy. All four of you need to set up behind the plane near the far back. You should have the plane in front of you and the runway behind you.
This may seem like a crazy idea being that you are out in the open but it works. Set up any gas cans or propane Tanks around the front and back of the plane. Save these for later. If there are Molotovs/pipe bombs, then you should save these as well. Get really close together so that there are two people standing and two crouching. Chances are the infected will be coming from the left and right of your position, with only a few coming down the center since the plane will be taking up a pretty large chunk of that space.
Focus on their heads and spray from left to right. If you do this correctly, they should never reach you. If they do reach you, the two in the front should start shoving as the people in the back shoot. You don't have to worry about any attacks from the back since you are against the wall. Snipe the bosses as they come to you. This shouldn't be a problem since they really have to run a long way to get to you.
Once the first wave is gone, spread out and focus on the Tank as he comes towards you from afar. Get your snipers to focus on his head. When he gets a bit closer, light him up with a Molotov or make him come towards the plane so you can shoot the cans. You have a lot of open space so he shouldn't catch you unless he manages to hit you with a rock. Once he is down, quickly run back and refill on ammo/health and get ready for the 2nd wave. Make short work of the next wave using the same tactics.
When the 2nd Tank falls, you get ready to jump on the back of the plane. The walkway takes a while to lower down so if you have a pipe bomb then use it before the horde reaches you. Whoever has that pipe bomb should hold on to it the entire time just so he can use it at this specific point. If there is more than one then you can use it if you are in trouble during the earlier rushes. Congrats once again for a job well done.
Tips:
- Chances are the majority of the horde will spawn behind the wall/fence on each side of you. Shoot them as they pop their heads up to climb. Do not worry if they get close. The two in the front should be able to shove them all off for clear shots.
- The Hunter and Smoker will always stick around the plane. Make sure to not get dragged away. Shove them off if they get a hold of a teammate.
- It usually takes a Tank a long time to get to your position. Use that time to your advantage! Keep a safe distance from others and shove him off of a downed survivor if needed. Once you lose someone, there is no way to get him back.
- Never use your Molotovs on the horde. Save these for the Tank only. You only need to hit him with one since the fire won't go out until he dies.
- Always refill your ammo after every Tank.
Blood Harvest (Farmhouse)
You need to get to the house with barely any damage loss. Remember that it can be a little different each time, but chances are that the strategy should stay the same. If anyone dies before the field, just restart the map. Start off by having one person run outside the train and just stand there for about 15-20 seconds. A huge wave of infected should come out of nowhere, so get back in the safe house and close the door. Once you kill them and rid yourselves of the bosses who wait outside, make your way to the end of this section.
Watch for infected who will run out of the trees. If you happen to run into a Tank, hit him from a distance as you back up all the way to the safe house. This should be extremely easy since you have a lot of time. Stay on the tracks so you don't back up into any trees. Once you get to the train car, go up the ladder and clear out any infected or bosses that get in your way. There may be horde that rushes towards you, so make sure to clear them off the sides of the train car before they can get up.
Once you get to the cliff, make sure everyone's health is in the green and pick off any stray infected that you see in the field. Chances are a few bosses might try to get you from behind so take them out. Once you are all ready, jump off the cliff at the same time and make your way to the tractor. The horde are going to come at you quick, so have three people get up on the front of the tractor and have one use the walkway on the back.
Keep shoving the infected as they surround you since they may be able to hit you if they get close. If anyone falls off and gets knocked over, everyone should focus on getting headshots while the infected attack the downed survivor. If you lose anyone at this point then don't worry since they will spawn in the house right beside you.
Once you clear the horde, make your way to the barn and the garage. Clear out any infected you see and collect any gas cans or pipe bombs that you may find. The infected will not come until you activate the radio, so use this time to go around the entire farm area and clear out every zombie. Heal up and grab your ammo while make sure all the doors are closed downstairs. Head upstairs and go into the room to the left. It is the children's room with one window.
Close the door behind you and wait for the horde. Have one person crouch and shove at the door and one right behind who will shoot. There should be one person at the window who will shove and one on the bed who will be shooting out and helping with the door if needed. Knock off the wood on the window before you start so you have a safe way to get out. Most of the bosses will be coming from the inside, so keep shoving and shooting out the door. I was able to use my pistols for that part since only a few infected can actually come at you at a time. This should be extremely easy and you shouldn't lose any health. If a boomer hits you and knocks you back, move forward and keep doing what you are doing. If a Smoker or Hunter grabs a hold of you or another, quickly shove the person to release them.
Once the first wave is over, everyone should jump out the window and head to the far back of the area. Watch out for the Boomer as you jump out. If he pukes on anyone, get behind the others and quickly take the infected out. The Tank will be making his way towards you from either side of the house, so watch out for rocks.

If you find any propane Tanks, set them up under the window that you jumped out of so you can use it on the Tank if he goes near it. Have one person get the Tanks attention and get him to follow you around the house. While he is chasing you, have the rest of the team continue to pound him with shots from behind. Make sure you don't hit the person doing the distracting, because if he starts to slow down, he is a goner. You health needs to be above the yellow for this. If you are really feeling brave, run backwards while shooting to take him down faster. He will keep trying to cut you off, so move from left to right to throw him off. If he stops to throw a rock, make sure you dodge it and continue moving. You may run into a hunter so make sure you shove him in the air before he gets you and hope that someone has a clear shot.
Once the first Tank is down, quickly go back inside and refill on ammo/health. Get back up to the room and do everything over again. Once the horde is gone, do the same thing to the 2nd Tank. Kill him and get ready for the ending. The rescue vehicle will come from behind the house and will stop right in front of the barn. Get to the back of it and get inside. The infected will most likely be right on top of you, so keep shoving them off as everyone boards safely. If everything goes according to plan, you should make it out alive.

- If you happen to find any pipe bombs, then save them for when the Tanks come. If there are any infected running around, you need to get them away from the one distracting the Tank. If they grab on to him, the Tank will catch him. Save at least one pipe bomb for the very end when the rescue vehicle arrives.
- If the boomer pukes on you, get back to position and don't worry about the infected. As long as you keep your crosshair at head level you shouldn't have a problem. Use your pistols if you can and help the person crouching by shoving a bit yourself if he gets overwhelmed.
- Clear every zombie out before hitting the radio. You don't want them causing trouble later. "
