I picked up my Resistance 2 game after work yesterday.:thumbsup2:
So I went to work last night to finally finish playing the last two sections of Resistance 1. It didn't take that long to finish so I installed and updated Resistance 2 shortly after.
A couple things I've noticed from playing about 5-10 min of the game last night is that all of the controls have been moved around so I'll have to decide if I like them the new way or change them back to the way they were in the first game.
Also so far it seams you can only carry 2 weapons now and you drop one while picking up a new one.. not sure if I like that since I really liked having all of my weapons to choose from so I could use whatever weapon was needed at the time. I use to commonly snipe then move in with a medium range assault rifle until I switched to the pump shotty which destroys at close range..
On thing I did sort of like even though it makes the game less of a challenge is there are more checkpoints and their a lot closer together. That was one thing that kept me from finishing the first game in a timely fashion, I would spend a bunch of time getting through a section and just as I was about to get to a checkpoint I would get killed and didn't feel like blowing another 15-30 min doing it all over again..
We'll have to check out the co-op and possible online mulitplayer as a group as soon as some of you guys get the game;).

So far the online coop is kinda disappointing. Either I'm not use to console coop or this game needs a lot of work in that area still..
You can start clans but the name length could be longer and they only give you 3 spaces for your tags and don't let you use many options so all the good tag layouts are gone.
More editing options and less jumping through ropes to get into a game with friends would be nice.
If you're playing a game with random people you can't follow them to the next game instead it just drops you unless your part of that friend group I think.
While this might be fun on and off I have a feeling L4D will be a lot more fun.
I think having a few ||§§|| guys playing Res2 co-op together without strangers would be more fun but I'm not sure if the game adjusts hardness on number of players in game or not. While it would be fun with 3-4 guys, if the rounds are designed for 8 players than 3 would get slaughtered.. I think I need to do some more reading up on how they have this thing set-up.

My personal first impressions of res 2 CoOp:
Now I have to say the options screen is a big bag of ass right now for navigation. First options are automatically set to block anyone from joining you and then they hide the settings on you so you find them by accident. So first thing for anyone who gets the game, go to your "Allies" (triangle) list and hit X right away and set to allow friends and be public and what not. AND WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH YOUR PARTY JOINING A GAME AND WHEN IT ENDS, YOU GO BACK TO THE MAIN MENU INSTEAD OF RELOADING WITH THE GROUP!?!?!?
Also you go to the Community section and search for SuicideSoldiers (No space) and join the clan group. There is a nice option for Clans to set up and have their own section on the friends list you find with L1-R1. Our Tag has to be S:S (only alowed 3 characters, gay I know)
Now when creating a game we can set it for anywhere between 2-8 people for Coop, not sure if they adapts the gameplay accordingly, but you NEED at least 3 people. When it was just me and white, I was the soldier and he was the medic and then we had not ammo, he went Recon and we had not health. so Coop is a 3 person minimum.
You can Join others in Coop which is nice but of course this is a crap shoot because you get stuck with some A*holes sometimes that just wont shut up, or dummies that wont stick with you, heal you, or give you ammo. And let me tell you as the heavy with the shield pushing the front line forward, when I say "I need ammo, my shield is almost up" then nothing happens and I die, I get pissed. So people that do not know how to play can be annoying. But it is nice when you have a group of guys that know what they are doing and cover, heal, and resupply each other while moving as a group. If you have 7 people with you that comunicate and assist each other with out going off on their own, the game can flow pretty well though.
I would like to give it a little more time, but I agree that L4D is probably going to rock way more in the Cooperative arena since that is its focus.

Yeah I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me join you guys in game when you invited me until I found you can't join friends coop games while in the coop menu.. you have to be in the main menu. Yeah that makes sense..
I think 3-6 players is more than enough but even at 8 people things start to get confusing since the group is disorganized because you don't know everyone by name without looking at them so you might end up with 6 recon and 2 heavies so you have tons of ammo but everyone is dead..
I started getting the hang of things so that I could snipe from behind the lines and toss ammo forward into the group or Hands shield to keep them loaded. Of course the terrain often cause the group to move down into a valley which is death for a sniper and I have no body armor to get close with my other rifle.. so it would make more sense for me to flank and stay on high ground but that leaves others without ammo.. which brings me to the point of why the hell is light and fast recon/spec-op carrying a bunch of ammo in the first place?? What retard came up with that idea?
Oh I joined the Res2 SuicideSoldiers Clan Hand sent me an invite for ;).

Yea if we get enough people then we can figure out what everyone is good at and work together, but anyways L4D demo is released today for the preorder peopl lol and I have to admit I might get stuck on that as well, but I will most certainly continue to play Res 2, it works very well when your with competent people. The beta was fun since more people that knew what they were doing woere on it.
