Hmm I hope the secret service is on their game because I'd rather have Obama as President than crazy Biden.. Our first Catholic President was assassinated so we'll have to be extra careful with our first Black President. I'm sure there are some extreme nutjobs out there.
Now that he's won we'll have to give him a chance and see how he does. Many people now think he will be in the middle more than Hillary would have even with his extreme friends.
This election was going to be win-loose for me either way since my political and personal views were split from the begining.
Win in that I support limiting Religion in the government, I support teachers since my wife is one, I could care less about gay marrage one way or the other but I'm pro choice for women.
Loose in I want to keep my second amendent rights and at this point in time I don't agree with distribution of wealth being a positive thing for us.
Time will tell...

I don't know how effective the whole distribution of wealth thing is but with the economy as it is and the gap between poor and rich growing since the Great Depression, I figure it worth a wait and see. Personally, I don't make 250,000 a year, the average Joe doesn't, so this won't effect me much. No offense if you guys do (I am jealous).
Obama is definitely in danger which speaks volumes about this country's opinions on race and how far we've come from the times of discrimination and intolerance. With that bias is it any wonder that a lot of black people allegedly voted for Obama solely on race? Any presidential candidate is in danger of nutjobs going after them but obviously if McCain had won he would had less to worry about.

I wish I made even slightly close to that on my own.. I believe they dropped the amount to 200,000 a year. It's a tough subject with no real winning answer. If someone came from an average or poor family and they work really hard at a business that started from scratch do they deserve to keep their money more than someone who went to college and has a very good office job? What if that office person also came from nothing and worked nights to get through school vs someone from a rich family that didn't have to pay anything and had a big job waiting for them after college?
Say you work really hard and make just over $200k a year. What does it show for your hard work that the government wants to take your hard earned money and give it to people who don't have as much ambition as you? Is it better to just give yourself a paycut so you stay at $199k than have you're money taken from you on top of your regular taxes?
While this may work for some countries and heck I wouldn't mind a tax break. I don't know it just seems unAmerican to take someones money and give it to other people?

Lol I don't think any assassin would bother with McCain when all he has to do is sit and wait a couple years for him to kick on his own.:p

Lol at the McCain statement...we'll never know now.
200K a year, this was a misunderstanding. 250+ Tax Increase, 200- tax cuts, 200-250 nothing happens to your taxes. During Obama's 30 min special or whatever he confused people by talking about tax cuts and showing the 200 number.
What you said makes sense and is the main logic against this 'share the wealth' mentality. A lot of people get wealth and jobs through their connections and do little work to get their money. Others work hard and get nothing at all. There's an ideology in America that suggest if you work hard/study hard you become successful. In sociology they've taught us this simply isn't the case.
I think there's an exaggeration here about these tax increases for the wealthy. People like to dramatize that the rich will be financially crippled by these tax increases. The poor will be poor and the rich will still be rich even if it's at their inconvenience. It's an unfair simplification to say a person that worked hard for their money is being cheated and that that money is being put directly into a poor person's pocket.
That's not the case.
Our government (everyone not just the Bush administration) has failed to regulate things like this mortgage crisis. We had to do some work on it in school. I won't go into the details but basically banks were giving up to 500,000 dollar loans to people with credit so bad you wouldn't lend them your pencil.
I'm ranting though, my main point is this.
McCain talked about "Country First." Putting your own needs aside for the benefit of the country. The top 5% of income earners in America make more than half of the total income of the rest of the country put together. This is a free country you can do with your money what you wish. But when your fellow Americans are suffering, the economy is tumbling, and you're living in a country that believes in helping others it might be time to put personal comforts at bay just a little bit.
If we can spend the money on rebuilding another country providing them with running water, electricity, and security then helping each other shouldn't be such a tough decision. I think spreading the wealth shouldn't be such a bad thing to consider during these times.
Under different circumstance, no, I don't believe the rich should suffer for being rich but when the country needs help the advantaged and privileged should step up.

I just want to see if Comedy central with Colbert Report and the Daily Show, along wqith SNL, will be fair and now start picking on the Democrats or if they will puss out and just get in as many George W shots as they can.

We have to wait for the Obama administration to make a few big screw ups. Right now I think he is still untouchable in the media, so I go with puss out.

I've seen the Daily Show and Colbert Report take a couple shots at the Democrats on the campaign trail but I have no idea where they're going to get their material from now. No doubt they'll be enjoying Bush's last two months in office while they can.
I think SNL will do their fair share of Obama-mocking especially since the guy they got playing him is awesome. Also, since their guy won (I assume it's their guy), they'll be good sports enough to make fun of him.

If you noticed thogh all the shots they took were never focused on Obama or Biden's characters, just so stupid incident either about where they were or just a clip of what they were saying, they never pointed out any of the backtalking, at least not from what I have seen. always just kind of annoyed me, appeared like they were taking sides and I love those shows

Of course Jon Stewart and them are gonna crack hard on someone's character when they have a problem with their views and don't believe in them, but if you remember they didn't treat Mccain like that 4 years ago, Jon actually liked Mccain and supported him back then, but then Mccain changed all his policicies and then Jon started attacking him frequently, and let's face it, they just make it so easy to make fun of them. Especially Palin, I am going to miss her cute way of not answering any question posed to her. As far as the anti-christ statement I know people said that about Bush too and I would be more inclined to believe that Bush is opposed to Obama. If I believed in that stuff. Ultimately no one man can bring us down if we are united, but that is the problem, we aren't and doubtful we will get there with all this racial, religious and politcal tension between all sides.

Blah I deleted my mindless banter before I unintentionally offend any friends views ;).
I think all the political threads and topics are coming to an end very soon, and shortly we will be going back to our no politics or religion rules.

I agree with Hand on his post in our little IM thingy on the homepage. Support the President regardless of who it is. It's all over let's let thing get back to normal and stop (HAPPILY) discussing all the BS.
That being said, did anyone check out South Park last night? I think it wrapped this madness up nicely.
