View Full Version : My COD4 profile resets itself

When I first started playing COD4, I beat the singleplayer and got to staff sergeant II rank in multiplayer. Then I updated, and it all reset. My profile was still there, but the story mode wasn't even started, and I was at the bottom rank with no challenges completed in multiplayer. Naturally, I got pissed off and didn't play again for a few weeks. Then when I started playing again, I completed story mode again and got to master sergeant rank online. And guess what comes next. I started my computer this morning, and I'm back to staff sergeant II. Somebody freaking shoot me...

Has this happened to anyone else, or is God just trying to piss me off?

yes it happened too me 4 or 5 times now, then I got smart and started backup my profile everytime I got off the game. Now that I'm 55 I backup that one and I'm good now.....I know how you feel :mad:

When I updated it erased my profile and back to zero for me. It sucks getting back up to 55. I learned to backup the profile files once in a while now.

Post instructions on how to back up, so everyone knows how to do it (rememrb not everyone's game directories are the same)

I've had my game randomly forget the names of my custom classes so I backed it up once RIGHT after I made a backup of the file my file cot corrupted somehow so I was lucky.

The file name is "mpdata" in the "*install dir*\call of duty 4\players\profiles\*your name*\" folder. You just have to copy it somewhere else. I just made a copy of the entire "*your name*" folder.

Example: "D:\Valve\SteamApps\common\call of duty 4\players\profiles\SvenSlayer"

To bring a dead horse back,

If you are lvl 55 and you have had all of your MP stuff earsed or had to wipe your hd a million times, like me, then do this, it works.
