Okay, here is my brief review of "Spore" on the PC.

Hand had been bugging me to do one (probably because I have been playing it and not COD4 :)

Here goes.

Spore is a very unique game in which it allows you to create your own creature from it's earliest cell development all the way through inter-galactic destiny. In theory it was very exciting for me and a welcome change from FPS and RPG games I have been playing. In reality, they just didn't execute it well.

First of all, the Creature creation portion of the game got the most attention, You are really only limited by your imagination on what your creature can be.
It is really a shame they didn't put this much effort into the rest of the game.

The game is divided into 5 seperate games or "Stages". Cell Stage, Creature Stage, Tribe Stage, Civilization Stage, and Space Stage.

I am not going into too much details other than to say that this game is INCREDIBLY EASY!. A retarded 6 year old with one hand could blow through this game. Ok, well maybe not, but it is extremely easy point and click boring nonesense.

I will give you guys an example. This game has tons of creativity when it comes to the creature itself, but when you get to the civilization stage say, you get to create your own buildings and vehicles from scratch. "Cool" I thought, I get to create my own tanks, boats and plains from scratch and have a truely unique faction. Well, when you play, you get ONE tank, thats it, ONE. ONE TANK, ONE BOAT, ONE PLANE. You can custimize that one design and mass produce it, but you only get 1 design? How can you have an entire civilization with ONE design for tanks? one design for airplanes and one design for boats? thats insane. The cities you create are the same too, One House, One Factory, One Entertainment center, and thats IT, an entire city with 3 types of buildings huh? WOW! I can barely contain myself. Ultimately I just mass produced a bunch of aircraft and just wiped out every other civ with no effort at all. Click on this city , destroy , capture. Click on the next city, destroy, capture. Totally boring and pointless.

The tribal stage was basically the same way, a lil more interesting but again, poitn and click on this tribe, destroy, move on to the next. blah blah blah.

The Space stage and Creature stages are the only worthwhile games, interesting but not enough to pay 50 bucks for.

My suggesstion, if you guys see this in the bargain bin for 10 bucks, sure , check it out just for something different, otherwise stay away from this one, regardless of all the 8 and 9 reviews you see on Gamehoe or wherever.

I would give it a 5/10
