Just saw this link that I'm currently reading about the story behind all of the Xbox 360's red ring of death and Microsofts dealings with the system.

http://venturebeat.com/2008/09/05/xbox-360-defects-an-inside-history-of-microsofts-video-game-console-woes/

It talks about how they cut corners with quality in order to get their system out first, at the cost of one of the largest consumer electronics defects in history.
Did the consumers get screwed.. well yes but Microsoft knew what they were doing since they got a huge selling leap and built the base for the game developers on their system.
The only thing that kept the 360 going is the fact people love the games on it. It seems people are willing to deal with Microsofts crappy system and crappy consumer views because there are a lot of great game to be had on it. Your lucky Microsoft.. very lucky. :shakehead:

Man it just makes me happy that my 360 is still good.. of course I don't use it to often since I got it one month before Microsoft finally put HDMI in there and it's a bit of a bother to switch my tv input and stereo input over to use the dumb Component video..

First off, SOME OF US NEED TO USE COMPONENT!!!!!

Second, sad part is it worked here in the USA, we are just dumb like that.

I said it on Kotaku and I will say it here. MS wanted to be liked like the Apple brand name it, and they acted JUST like Mac did with the iPhone 3G. They skimped and knew people would still buy them just to have one. THey knew cutting corners would piss people off, butt hey also knew that just giving some half-assed fix later would appease most people.

I know people that have had seven RROD boxes (that is 7 DIFFERENT units) and still would get another one.

It is like how Macboys are, its not whether it works or not, it is that They have it.

But whatever, companies will continue to screw over consumers, and with the millions of 360's being sold, they will follow in M$ foot steps with spending more money on hyping a product then they do with Quality Control.

lol let me know if you ever want a 360 and I'll give it to you at a good price so I can get an HDMI one. Component is fine when that's what you have but a system built on only HDMI it tends to screw up the flow :p.

The 360 reeks of a system being released prematurely. No Blu-ray, not even HD-DVD.. I seem to remember an issue with MS taking back a third of all consoles made world wide for an enormous bill, there is cooling issues that's just retarded and the infamous RRoD.

Why does every thing that runs on something Microsoft made get something called "of death" hahaha.
I have heard of people who had 12 or more RRoD's.. my god they must be some die-hard-hardcore fanboys of Microsoft for bothering after ..I'd say the third.. ROFL
