Alright, everyon knows what 3D HDTVs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_TV)are, and now with Sony announcing a HUGE push at E3 for 3D support (http://e3.g4tv.com/videos/46547/E3-2010-Sony-Press-Conference-Sony-3D-Gaming/?quality=hd), a lot of people will be considering getting a 3D TV.

Now I don't even have an HDTV myself yet. The cost of 3D at home requires a 3D capable TV (which obviously has to be HD if your getting one), a player that can handle 3D (PS3 just upgraded its firmware to do so), and a connector with a high speed HDMI cable.

You also have to consider that for 3D to function, you need 3D glasses for every person watching (unless your using the Nintedo 3DS which is just wierd and only works for 1 person) and ofcourse if you have a nice 3D setu you better also have a good 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system.

Some of this stuff you may have some you may not, so my question is:

Do you plan on getting a 3D TV in the near future (at some point soon, not just sure in 1 years when everyone has one)?

They release some entry level 3D tv's early spring but none of the higher end models were coming out until this summer. I have to install a 60" 3D sony when it comes out for a customer so I'll let you know what I think about them after.

The tvs come with one or two sets of glasses I believe but you need a 3D Blu-Ray player to make them work.

They call them "Starter Kits" usually a pair of glasses or 2 and a 3D cartoon like Monsters Vs Aliens

Let me know, then steal it for me LOL

Don't have an hd-tv or any cable servers worth getting one for. I for the most part like not having a TV and to be ruled by a TV schedule. But maybe when people start dumping all their flat screens for 3d ones I might be able to acquire a hand me down... mwhaha

Well a DVR helps with the schedule problem, but there are not many shows that interest me anymore. Still loving Burn Notice though.

Here is another question: Would you consider bying a 3D video card and glasses for your PC for gaming?

You bought a fucking Kuro???? Holy crap, what made you want to buy that? I am sure it is beautiful (never even seen one turned on), but why did you choose that over a Sharp, Sony, or Philips?

well, i had a great mitsubishi DLP tv, 65 inch, but wanted a top of the line plasma, kuro's have the best black levels when it comes to plasma, thats the main reason i picked it up.

Must be mice LOL I am sure it looks fantastic. Unfortunately for me if I could afford an HDTV, Kuro would not even be an option lol

I've always told my customers when they are choosing a TV, if they want Plasma then you get a Panasonic or Pioneer and if you're choosing LCD then go with Samsung or Sony. Everything else is decent but mainly filler and cost is the only reason to choose outside those brands in my opinion.

The images of plasma vs lcd are getting very close these days. Plasma still has more realistic colors and size to cost ratio is much better while LCD is still better in brighter rooms and is much thinner and lighter.

I personally think LED LCD tvs were a more useful jump than 3D tvs.

They have better blacks and higher contrast than ever before. Some people get confused about the new LED tvs though. Older LCD tvs had a cold cathode tube that was used as a backlight, A LED tv is still a LCD tv that just uses LED's as backlight vs the older tubes. There are two types of LED backlights though. One has LED's around the paremeter of the tv, these are the super thin LCD tv's. The other type uses an array of LED's across the back of the tv, these LCD tvs tend to give the tv better blacks and brighter colors but makes for a thicker more power hungry tv.
