View Full Version : Garona Server Balance Problem..

Ok I joined Garona with everyone because that's our main US clan server.

I've noticed that things are looking harder and harder for us Horde characters lately. We are always outnumbered in Battlegrounds and Wintergrasp especially.. and Alliance are always attacking and killing out main town npc characters and they love to attack us when we are just having fun in any holiday things.

I hate to stick to stereotypes but most of the Alliance on our server are just kids or assholes.

Here is the problem, if you check the server stats Garona currently has a 5.7 to 1 Alliance to Horde ratio. This is this months ratings so the activity level is actually closer than normal.

Total Alliance: 22,738 - 85% Total Horde: 4,008 - 15% A to H Ratio: 5.7 : 1 Activity Ratio: 1.8 : 1

So is there any reason that we might want to think about switching our Guild to a new more balance server or is that just to much of a hassle?
I know it doesn't matter much for regular rpg things but any PVP or Achievement things just suck!

I know some servers have more horde and some more alliance but it would be nice to play on a balance server. I don't see any fun in being on the side that always wins or the side that always looses.

Just wondering what you guys think? Scorp you're our main WoW guy.

If we were to move to a new server I think there would be certain requirements needed.
1) US server obviously.
2) CST server like Garona so no one has to much lag.
3) PvE so we can do both PvP and Rp
4) A more balanced ratio. I don't mind being the underdog by a few thousand but not almost 20 thousand..
5) Decent size but not to large otherwise it will be hard to make any money. 15,000-20,000 would be good.

These look pretty balanced. Of course there are more choices if we unbalance one way or the other. The tough part is the activity level, some servers may be way stacked but close to level in activity. It seems to me that the Horde need to have more players on there side to have a closer activity ratio.. maybe that's because of work and family instead of school and friends lol.

I like the idea of this.

My question would be how much would this cost scorp and everyone else?

I guess the unbalance doesn't affect me that much since I don't do a lot of PvP, and for the lower level Battlegrounds - the Horde side seems to always win lol.

I guess the pros would mean a more balanced game for the higher levels and less "your entire city got wiped again by the Alliance - wait one hour for the NPC you need to respawn".

Seems like there would be a lot of cons involved. Cost would be a major factor, especially for the members who have multiple characters to migrate. Even if you only took half your toons, that would still be over a hundred bucks to move them. Also, you have to consider the members who can't afford to move - what would happen to them? Not to mention the gold limits, as it severely limits the amount of gold you can take with you. From reading the FAQ, it appears that the guild itself can't just "up and move" and we'd have to start a new guild from scratch on the new server.

Lots of stuff to think about :hmm:

Hmm looks like your right.. I thought it was $25 per account but it's $25 per character.. that freaking sucks.. well we may want to keep an eye out because Blizzard does free transfers to less populated servers a couple times a year. Until then it is what it is I guess.

I was just gonna say that you have to pay per Character and with some of you having many high characters that is a lot of money for a game doubt it would be worth it. Of course this is from a guy that has given up on that game lol My 43 Warrior Troll is probably gonna stay that way for a while.

All I have to say is OMG blizzard is so freaking greedy... I guess they charge to limit the number of people who migrate as to cut down on data transfer consumption... but why not just limit the times you can do it per account... You are already paying to even play the game why should you have to pay to go to a better server?

I would have moved my 80 Priest to Garona but its 25 as you already know. Besides my older son finaly stopped playing. I might as well do the same as its kinda old but will say I have said this before. lol

I have 12 characters with two accounts like Im sure Drh and Kit share 2 accounts. Thats $300 to move them..Blizzard does suck for not letting you move freely unless they offer the free transfer later but then like you said, no telling what the ratio would be after the move and it may be worse.

I think I'm feeling a bit better now that the holidays are over the ratio seems a lot better with all the kids back in school.
