yes Ps3 has that free online network, but what are you paying your money each year on a gold xbox live subscription? that makes it better?

1) Play your Xbox 360 multiplayer games online with microsoft's online gaming service.
2) TrueSkill Matchmaking system to play against opponents with similar skills, personalities, and gaming tastes.
3) Give player feedback to rate your teammates and opponents on their sportsmanship, abilities, and conduct to influence matchmaking.
4) Play select original Xbox games online
5) Get access to exclusive Gold Member content.
6) Engage in video chat.
7) party chat so friend can chat while in differant games
8) latency tests show xbox live has on average 18% less lag then ps3 or wii
9) Get the first MW2 DLC maps for free!!! muwuhahaha!!!

PC is still a strong contender in the gaming market but its hard to really compare PC to console as they are quite different. Wii is just rather shocking when it comes to online services, sure theres some cool features but its like a wounded dog, i'll be lucky to get a good connection to play SSB brawl and a proper friends list would be nice.

ultimately its cheaper for publishers to release online games on xbox because the players pay for the server while on PC and PS3 the publishers have to pay.

I never bothered buying the wireless connector for my 360(PS3 is built in) so I've never actually hooked up to XBL, lol I still have the old dashboard on mine. I'm going to ask a few questions about your posts since I'm curious k.

Don't get me wrong I'm not putting down XBL, it's massive and everyone who has it loves it.. well "it" but maybe not most of the other people on it hah. How much does it cost a month anyway?

1) Play your Xbox 360 multiplayer games online with microsoft's online gaming service.
Not sure this is different than the PS3?

2) TrueSkill Matchmaking system to play against opponents with similar skills, personalities, and gaming tastes.
This would be kinda cool on the PS3 but I don't think they have a user profile system with interests that they can compare to other players before matchmaking. Is that how it works on the XBL?

3) Give player feedback to rate your teammates and opponents on their sportsmanship, abilities, and conduct to influence matchmaking.
In theory this makes sense but I'm sure that pissed off people or plan asses will toss negative feedback all over just to be jerks. Do they actively keep track of how many neg responses you give or get and ban you if you go overboard? Otherwise what does it do? Do you see peoples scores before they join a game with you?

4) Play select original Xbox games online
PSN has tons of PS1/PSP and smaller PS3 games online. Not to mention thousands of movies and tv shows without needing to pay netflix fees. New movies are coming out on it faster than on OnDemand now.

5) Get access to exclusive Gold Member content.
Like what?

6) Engage in video chat.
PSN has this and you can show photos to each other, though I wish you could jointly stream movies..

7) party chat so friend can chat while in differant games
Now this is something I wish the PS3 had.. you have to leave the chatroom to do anything else and once a game ends everyone looses their chat connections.. Blah!

8) latency tests show xbox live has on average 18% less lag then ps3 or wii
I think this really matters game to game. If the game uses dedicated servers than your fine but if it's a peer to peer host. I've heard this also matters a lot person to person and their networks etc. Some people have one lag and are smooth on the other while some people have the opposite results. I usually doubt most % percentages until I see how they came up with the numbers and if the person was not associated with or bias to one company.

9) Get the first MW2 DLC maps for free!!! muwuhahaha!!!
There was a rumor going around that the 360 was going to have exclusive maps for MW2 but IW said it wasn't true. 360 will get the maps a bit sooner than the PS3 but since it's mainly a PC game I'm not concerned lol. Microsoft is notorious for tossing money at developers to get exclusives... luckily I think Sony has started to do this more even if it is against their beliefs.

This will actually end up hurting everyone in the future but has done most of its harm to the PC market. Lol don't get Sven started again on it :p

That's really not true about PCs. If they stick to dedicated servers the publishers don't have to pay for anything. Unless it's an MMO and those are not even available on console and the players are forced to have to support the costs of the server anyway. For some reason IW is choosing to take on the cost of their new system, even though nobody wants it. Plus you don't know how much it costs for developers to develop for Xbox live. Knowing Microsoft there is probably some sore of licensing involved. And Why pay for something everybody else gets for free?

Yea, I can widdle that from 9 to 1
#7 like DrH said, which "Supposedly" Home will have in the next big update. The rest are either filler, PSN has it, Or something I personally would not care about at all.
Either way from my own personaly standpoint I could not justify the $90 WiFi donggle and a subscription fee. I think you get more with PSN and will stay with it, but that is my personal opinion and I know many love XBL and will always. More systems are great because they keep the other companies in check. So I am glad we have the variety which forces prices to stay down, and companies to remain innovative.

In Australia is costs approximately $60 per year (about $5 a month) even cheaper in the U.S although i can't give you a precise number sorry

1) Play your Xbox 360 multiplayer games online with microsoft's online gaming service.
Not sure this is different than the PS3?
its not really, just usually better quality online, but this depends on your connection

2) TrueSkill Matchmaking system to play against opponents with similar skills, personalities, and gaming tastes.

No XBL takes into account your player stats from that particular game, the style of gamer you are ( this is chosen via xbox dashboard), you yourself does not have to see other players stats but usually you can and bail out of a game if you wish

Do you see peoples scores before they join a game with you?
yes, this can be a problem of idiot people spamming negative reviews of a player, but these negative reviews are selected from different fields e.g unsportsman conduct, so none of the player actual words are used, and people have been known for being suspended for slandering aimlessly negative reiviews, player reviews can be seen quickly via their gamer card and is done of a 5 star ratings sytem, 1 star bad 5 stars good. Also submitting a negative player review will suspend you from playing with that person via matchmaking while giving them a good review will have you paired with them more often

4) Play select original Xbox games online

5) Get access to exclusive Gold Member content.

game demo's, games on demand so you can download original xbox and 360 games (for a price), trailers, DLC, freebies, competition, etc

6) Engage in video chat.
PSN has this and you can show photos to each other, though I wish you could jointly stream movies..
as do i, hopefully as the new XBL update with things such as facebook and twitter will put a greater emphasis on media sharing so hopefully we will be seeing joint streaming mobies in the near future

7) party chat so friend can chat while in differant games
Now this is something I wish the PS3 had.. you have to leave the chatroom to do anything else and once a game ends everyone looses their chat connections.. Blah!
i know, it is something rather rediculous, but their are rumours of party chat comming to ps3, so keep looking to the horizon my friend

8) latency tests show xbox live has on average 18% less lag then ps3 or wii

I will agree with you there, some games run terrible on XBL, like brother in arms hells highway, great game, terrible online. Again it is usually a connection issue COD runs terrible on PSN in my area while it runs smoothly in other parts

9) Get the first MW2 DLC maps for free!!! muwuhahaha!!!

so true lol, microsoft are exclusivity whores, but as far as i know, XBL will get them first, so i shall be posting my opinions of them ASAP

it will lol, so they'll be choking up each others bandwith, and please Sven, don't hurt me i is just a fan boy!!!
